In simple installations, low-voltage dimming methods 0-10V / 1-10V and PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) excel thanks to their low complexity and high cost-efficiency. Two basic modes of operation are distinguished: Analog low-voltage (0-10V / 1-10V) and digital low-voltage (PWM) control. While they share the same transmission medium – a two-core control cable – their transmission technique differs. Analog low voltage dimming methods encode the light intensity in the applied voltage. While 0-10 V control enables the LEDs to be completely dimmed-out, 1-10V control requires a separate switch to sever the LED driver’s mains connection to do so.
